Announcing Mudpuppy Bikes!

I am proud to be able to announce that I have started a new PA-based bike company, specifically to supplement gaps left in the EWR product line for dirt lovers! The line up will include a Cyclocross/Monstercross frame capable of taking up to 29x2.0 tires, a dirt-touring frame (think Salsa Fargo), a Snow/Sand bike, and a trail-building cargo hauler designed for singletrack. All frames will be available with a singlespeed option and a choice of colors in red, black, white, or blue. Keep an eye out for the new website and design specs

Wheelset Opinions, Please

Even though I can't yet ride trail that doesn't mean I don't think about upgrades. I am looking to get a new wheelset. I've been told my current one can't take much more abuse. I don't have alot of cash to spend so I need bang for the buck, like $200 - $300.

I think I have my choice narrowed down to a few contenders, but I always like to hear what you good folks have to say.

Here are my finalists:
Azonic Outlaws - probably last years, cheaper on clearance
Mavic x717's w/ XT - find a few online
Mavic Crosstrails - more expensive though

Uber Cold Weather Gear

I'll be heading up to Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT the first week of February and it's pretty darn cold. So I was wondering if there are any suggestions for some uber-cold weather riding gear (no I don't want a trainer). I'm considering a pair of winter riding shoes...those Pearl Izumi Barrier GTX's posted on here a day ago are looking mighty fine at $125 (http://villagecycle.com/itemdetails.cfm?LibId=49710), any quibbles with them?
