Because where would we be without trails?

It's A Start!

The first section of the new South Bethlehem Greenway is now open. I'm not sure, but I suspect that big chunks of the remainder are already rideable, if not yet paved and polished like this section -- I think I'll test my theory Friday afternoon, before the Cutters ride -- anyone from the north side of the river want to join me?

Special thank you for donaton to VMB

As the scope of Valley Mountain Bikers' work continues to grow, we can find ourselves challenged by budgetary constraints.

During the weekend of the IMBA Trail Care Crew visit, we were pleasantly surprised by a donation which helped to offset our costs for that weekend and will help with some new trail tools and more!

Special thanks to Bob and Robin Fredericks for their gift to Valley Mountain Bikers. On behalf of the entire club, we deeply appreciate your generous donation and that you see the value of VMB's mission!

Sincerely,
Doug Pinkerton

IMBA Trail Care Crew 2009 Visit Thread

I'm on my way out the door, but wanted to share that last night was a great night for VMB and all local trail users.
Allentown BrewWorks hooked us up with a great space!

Distinguished speakers included:

Don Cunningham, Lehigh County Executive
Tom Gettings, Wildlands Conservancy
Collins Bishop, IMBA Trail Care Crew

I believe this marks a milestone in VMB's accomplishments and is the beginning of even bigger and better things.
There's more to share and photos to see!

See ya'
Doug

The Brian Hahl "Kid Dale"

Brian Hahl owned a youth-sized Cannondale bike that he referred to as "The Kid Dale." It's the bike he used to introduce some of his students, neighbors, etc. to the world of mountain biking.

Last night, I became keeper of the Kid Dale -- and the tradition of loaning it out to kids will continue.

It will be available at the Take A Kid Day or to anyone who wants to take their neighbor's kid out for a ride.

Just let me know.

Thx,
D

More Good Trail News - Nockamixon SP

Kenny and I met with Obie, the Park Manager and also Rich and Dan from IMBA Trail Solutions this morning. We hiked out part of the eastern section of the Park

Building a trail system at Nox has become a priority to IMBA because it is being looked at as a "test" case for all of DCNR. Also, because it is a first joint Club venture. IMBA brought in the Trail Solutions team to see if Nox was a viable project and if Trail Solutions would become involved.
