Because where would we be without trails?

VMB Trail Work Sign-In Sheets

Valley Mountain Bikers trailwork sign-in sheets are now available -- complete with clipboards and pens. If you're a regular worker/organizer, please be sure to get one from me.

This should aid in our efforts to better track trail day hours, names of volunteers, etc.

Kenny, I gave Greg one for you. Figure he's likely to see you sooner than me.

Thx,
D

Anyone have clipboards?

I'm looking for 10 or so clipboards (for letter-size paper) that we can distribute to the usual suspects to keep trailwork sign-in sheets.

Found them pretty cheap at Staples.
Before we spend club funds I'd figure I'd ask...

Thx,
D

Nockamixon State Park / Haycock Mountain

Kenny and I met with Obie Derr this morning. The meeting went as well as we could expect. The first thing he agreed was that equestrians and mtn bikers need separate trail systems. And that his trail system was in shambles at Nox.

He just came from Moraine State Park. He apparently had some promises there from mtn bikers to build trails, but it fell short. Then PORC came in en force and did some good work and maintains a presence there. So he was happy to hear that VMB and PORC are similar and have similar potential.

Park style/Pump track

Who here could coach/help me with the City of Easton. They have got a huge skate board lobby. The city is making some serious movement towards a skate park. I have spoken to the city council woman dealing with this she is great to work with. I was not able to attend the last meeting but somebody laid the ground work to make the project compatible with bikes. I don't have a good handle on potential funding, location, or time frame. The discussions are extremely preliminary.

DCNR grant seminars

it's always been a weakness of groups like ours. Maybe this would be good for someone to go and attend

The Bureau is now accepting registration on-line for the 2009 Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2) Grant Workshops using the new DCNR e-Calendar. Access to the site can be found at www.dcnr.state.pa.us/calendar and select "Workshops - Grants" to view all of the grant workshop events.

it's a great way to create solid partnerships with county, township and other agencies.
