Because where would we be without trails?

Trail Diplomacy

So I read IMBA's article on it here:

http://www.imba.com/resources/bike_management/trail_diplomacy.html

Its a nice article on sharing the trail and such, but I'm still a bit confused. Between us bikers, who has right of way, uphillers or downhillers? I've been given the ROW when going up and down. I've always tried to give the ROW to uphillers, but some move out of my way saying to let'er rip. I've also been almost run over by some downhillers with no regard.

Pocono Area Recreation Commision

I want to let all of our members know of this commission. This commission is enroute to lock in many acres of land in our area Mainly in Mt. Pocono, Barrett, Paradise, Townships as far as I know of right now. They have a regular Meeting every Thursday evening at 7pm at the Paradise Township Building.

The woman to speak to is Catherine Needham. She and the commission are very interested in creating multi-use trails in our areas.

Monday @ Dale's Backyard

Dale's Backyard has been quite the happening place this year -- it is running in great shape and there are a lot of new lines shaping up. It will shape up even bigger as Dale is scheduled to rent a dump truck and haul and stockpile dirt in for a few hours! This place is really going to blow up!

Monday 4/7 is yet another big build and ride night. More of the Downingtown crew are coming, as well as many others. Come on out and help build and ride. Donations are greatly appreciated towards the rental of the dump truck and for fuel for the Bobcat. Be there!

Try Transit Day

As always on the last Friday of the month, CAT-Coalition for Appropriate Transportation and LANTA-Lehigh And Northampton Transportation Authority, are holding Try Transit Day, March 28.

The purpose of Try Transit Day is to encourage people who have never tried public transportation to try riding the bus. By raising awareness of the importance of public transportation we hope to improve the lives of those who ride the bus not only while riding the bus, but safe pedestrian access to and from the bus, too.

First, congratulations to you both for your appointment to the PA Chapter Powerline Committee, and Nicole for assuming the Chair of that Committee.

Second, exciting news about a meeting Senator Casey will be holding on the NIETC issue.

March 31 at 11 am (or so)
Offices of the Wildlands Trust in Emmaus (Lehigh County)
Sen. Casey's contact for this is Ari at (215) 405-9660, in their Allentown office

They are just pulling this session together so details are sketchy. I wanted to get a save the date message out before the weekend.
