Because where would we be without trails?

Kiosks for Nockamixon, partnership with Youth Organization?

VMB's Nockamixon group has made amazing progress on the design and construction of a multi-use singletrack trail system at Lake Nockamixon State Park. As these trails get closer to completion, additional aspects of the project will need to be addressed. One of these is the construction and installation of kiosks at the trailheads to house trail maps, park rules, etc.

Trail maintenance question

I saw the thread about VMB Comittees for individual trails, and I understand the main focus right now seems to be on Nox and Trex.

Between work and child rearing I have one free day a week (Sunday), which is the day I ride, so I can't come out every single week to maintain, but with that said, I think it's about time I did SOMETHING, like sacrifice a Sunday here or there for maintenance.

Based on my schedule, I know I can't contribute enough time to be on any committee. Which sucks, but it is what it is.

Will you join a committee and help make stuff happen?

A little over a year ago VMB launched committees. The idea was (and it's still a good one!) to get more members involved with specific trail systems or aspects of the club. Ideally, these groups would be able to "take the ball and run with it". In other words—work somewhat independently of Scott and Jon, who have their hands full attending meetings with local officials, etc. Important stuff that they spend a bunch of time and effort on.

Anway, a year later, there's been limited success—now it's time to regroup and see what happens.
The money is part of a larger pool administered by the state and provided to municipalities to encourage walkable, mixed-use communities or to assist with transportation systems. "There is about $175 million total in the state grant fund," Sechriest said.
IT'S OFFICIAL: Night riding at Salisbury is legal!

Tonight, the board voted unanimously and approved night riding as an authorized activity in the rules for Walking Purchase Park.

Let me be the first to say: WOO-HOO!

Remember, part of the amended rules require all riders at WPP to sign a release. VMB will be sure to fill you in as details are available.

Thanks again to the VMB members who spent their time to make this happen — especially VP Scott — and all of you who were hands-on to make that trail system what it is today. You should all feel damned proud.

Salisbury WPP Proposed Rule Changes

This post is to keep VMB members as informed as possible on the WPP rule changes, which include night riding.

Approximately 25 VMB members attended the last Board of Commissioners meeting on December 9th. We stated VMB's support for the proposed changes, and requested they be approved as written. After some brief debate, the Board of Commissioners said the rule changes being proposed were ok. The Board could not vote on the rule changes at that meeting because of procedural requirements, and that it would be brought up for a formal vote at the next meeting.
