Because where would we be without trails?

Another happy kid!!!!

Back in September when we (Cutters) did the Take a Kid Mtn Biking Day at Jordan with the VMB we were able to giveaway a 20″Hotrock courtesy of Specialized bikes and their First Gear program. It was really awesome to be able to make a kid so happy with a brand new bike.

Well…..what makes it even MORE AWESOME is that very same day made it possible for ANOTHER kid to win a brand new bike. IMBA had advertised that anyone who attended an IMBA registered Take A Kid Mtn Biking event and submitted a picture from the event would be entered into a drawing to win some great items.

Nockamixon and Dogs

A note from park management....

" We have been getting some complaints about bikers and hikers not leashing their pets on the trail. Please help us spread the word that this is a park rule and it will be enforced. Signage has been posted at the trail ahead regarding dogs on leashes. This isn't the only area that we are having trouble and I don't want to seem like I am picking on the mountain bikers. I just want to stop this issue before it grows. "

Thanks SAMBA members

Rode Swatara singletrack yesterday and spoke with some SAMBA members in the parking lot. Over 50 of the 100 fallen trees have been cut and removed from the trails. It was amazing to see how much work has already been done to make the trails completely clear so soon after the storm! Thanks to the crews who took their vacation time and worked so hard to open the trails this week.

Nockamixon---Speed Limit on Tower and Fink( the dirt road) 25mph

Please limit your speed going down Tower Road to 25mph, it is posted at 35. Fink Drive the dirt road is now posted at 25mph.

Drive like a maniac as much as you want until you get to the small country roads that you access to the trailhead.

Many people are now and have before the trails were open at Nockamixon, using Fink Drive to Tower Road from South Park Road to access the CVS and Turkey hill gas station and utilize the light at 611 to head north without the ungodly wait at South Park and 611 to go north. Many of the vehicles were/are going well over 40 mph.

Musikfest Free Monitored Bike Parking Needs A Hand

Musikfest started last night and for years the Coalition For Appropriate Transportation (CAT) has provided free monitored bike parking. Festival parking can suck and riding your bike there just makes sense.

If you can spare a few hours hanging out talking to other cyclists and keeping and eye on their bikes, please contact CAT at (610) 954-5744 or cat@car-free.org.

Do you recognize this man?

b.jpg

If you rode off-road ANYWHERE in Bethlehem this weekend, you have him to thank for not having to bushwhack around a downed tree.

Saturday he was at Sals with Bob and Joe and then he headed to SMB to start clearing the monstrosity seen below. Sunday, he was back at SMB with E, Greg, John, Donna and me—to finish the job. Then, on a ride to Easton, he busted out his folding saw and starting cleaning up the towpath.

He looks a lot like another local legend—be we all know THAT GUY has a mustache.
