Nockamixon recreational guide

Check out the new recreational guide for Nockamixon stat park. Most of the mountain bike trails made the map except for the upper eastern woods. We are working on getting that section added to the free Pocket Ranger™ App by Parks by Nature which is a cool app that shows you where you are on the trail system, with a smart phone. The printed guides should be available in the next few weeks.

Valley Mountain Bikers is listed in the guide under friends groups.

Main reason Nox is closed right now

It's the discovery of this thing:
Soon to be infamous Nox Bass, netted last summer and leaked by unnamed source

As you all know the local trail systems are all in a brutal state of transition right now with a lot of moisture locked up in the deep freeze/thaw cycles. Under cover of advocacy Nox trailbuilders have closed the system to supposedly keep damage to a minimum. There is more lurking beneath the surface, however.

Gunfire at Sals

Riding at Sals this (Sunday) evening, coming down the switchbacks to the bottom of Constitution, Solt and I were greeted with the sound of fairly rapidly repeating gunfire! Too loud and unmistakeably not paintball guns, these were the real deal and we could not tell if they were on the RR tracks or in the section of trail we wanted to ride. There was a white pickup w/cap and a red sedan down there with hunting culture stickers on them. Called 911 and they responded in 5 minutes with a car. I was pretty psyched that they got there so fast.
