Salisbury

Conditions at Sals as of Noon time Friday

Windy. No seriously it's really windy out there. The woods are downright creepy but it is a classic November day. The trails are clear, at least now they are but the wind has brought down an unsual amount of "brush". Pay attention to where you park - look up to make sure no loose branches are aimed to put a hole in your bonnet.

Other than that, the trails are easy to follow and not all that wet or slick - reasonably fast . If you can get out later today/tonight, do it. It feels good out there.

"Claim It and Name It" Sals Trail Feature Contest

During our work day today we were presented with one of the biggest trees in the forest giving it's life for your enjoyment. Just crying out for a creative trail feature, we were all to happy to olbige. Using convenienty spilt boards from it's back, we created a nice, turning, up-n-over. It is notched deeply and wedged into the tree. Totally solid -- no pegs or spikes needed. The Amish would be proud.

I spied a fox today

My fiancee went middle shift, so I am Mr. Mom now weeknights, which means no more evening rides. I tried to be creative so I attempted a ride before work this morning, so I was at the trailhead at 6am. Yikes.

Anyways, I saw a badass looking fox sauntering down the road near the bottom of red. He wasn't all mangy or old looking either, that's usually the only time I see one. He stared at me, and me at him, for a few seconds, before he pranced off into the bushes. Pretty neato

Solitary night riding, do you?

I just barely made it out of Sals the other night before the sun went totally down.

And, I noticed that Geomangear has a new U.S. made battery available for the Magicshine lights, which is pretty much the only light I can justify affording, as much as I'd like to drop a bunch of benjamins on a Lupine setup.
