Working at Sals 1PM Saturday

At least a few of us will put some time in over at Sals today at 1pm.Meet on Consitution by the little bridge.

We'll be doing some maintenance and mods, starting at the switchback area which is close to the road. Bring tools if you can-picks, shovel, rakes. Maybe even some brush stuff like loppers, machete, clips.I'm not sure how much stuff is at Greg's, who's busy, so bring what 'ya got.

Some Sals trailwork

I had an idea for some light trailwork/trail maintenance . We can widen that first switchback turn on the Spanky/red trail. This has always been too tight. It was the first switchback we ever constructed at Sals and it takes a little bit of messing around til you know what you're doing. This isn't hard work-you would cut into the uphill side which is all loose soil and rocks. This matter would get carried right to the downhill side/crib wall platfrom.

Those Dumb Dumpers

We were cruising on the red trail at Sals, having just crossed the creek.I hear this cracking sound and figured out that it was some people throwing scrap wood or something in that uppper parking lot on Consitution. I bailed onto the road and headed up to see what was going on in the lot. The sound was two scrungy roofer guys throwing piles of shingles BACK ONTO THEIR TRAILER all the time being watched by two Salisbury police officers! So these dumb dumpers must have decided to dump their load right before the police were doing a patrol and they got busted! Duh! Thanks Sals police!!

Trailwork Saturday?

Anyone up for any trailwork on Saturday? Some of us will be out and about and it may be possible to drop by Sals to do a little work. How about upper Spanky mud stuff and some grooming of the sticker Hell? This is right by the road and its easily accessible. Another option is a some trail recon near Dodson. Feel free to post yer ideas.

Sat might be good for trailwork as the weather could be funky and the trails might be soft from rain.

More looking for boundaries at Sals

This week I'm gonna try to find some more boundary pins at Sals. The ones we're gonna look for
would be in the direction of the water tower which is getting close to the Susquehanna area. The is a strip of land that heads in that direction from the sawtooth stuff along lower Consti. Some of these things are like 2" high rebar, covered with leaves, hundreds of yards out in the middle of the woods with no markings of any kind.

Sals Tues but not for riding

Riding is probably out of the question for Sals but anyone want to check out some trail stuff?

I'd like to show some of the trail folks the area near Dodson. It would be easy to ad some new trail . I'm talking late afternoon early eve 5:30 or 6:00 start

Yet another trail idea.

I've had this idea for a while now to have a trail shoot off of the yellow near Dodson, and hook back into the yellow only a little further away from Dodson.

There is a large area still available between Dodson and St Lukes. This area would be all easy rake and ride, with not a lot of brush. The woods here is really cool! You would even be on the South slope for a very small distance which we don't have anywhere at Sals.

Did some GPS'ing

at Sals today. It was kind of an interesting day there today. The weather was pretty cold and windy. I was out there for 5-6 hours today. It even snowed pretty good for awhile . We finished up the sticker hell bypass, which came out really cool.Gallagher was kind of visionary and found some great lines through these whoops. You could even say we have a pump track (light version) for 50 feet. Anyhow those guys split and john and I figured out how to program the GPS(decimal coordinates) and headed over to Western Sals to try and find the property boundaries.

Salibury... Next on the agenda??

For some day soon at Salisbury, I have two things at the top of my list:

1) That mushy section above the Spanky. I'm guessing that's just gonna' get sloppier as we move into spring. This will be a nice change-of-pace sort of day.

2) Short distance of trail on the Quarry trail near the location of the tree that came down this fall/winter. That section really needs to be bench cut and we could knock that out in no time.
