Found Today at Sals

Max sniffed out a set of keys at the base of the first yellow sign in from Dodson Park. They seemed to have fallen off the sign so I rehung them on it, and 3 hours later they were gone. Hope the owner picked them up.

He also sniffed out a pair of Oakley Half Jackets XLJ, silver w/ grey lenses. He found them on the lower part of Red between the new built-up turns and the 180 turn just before the old ATV trail crosses. If these are yours PM me as I can meet up with you at the park or you can stop by my house near Dodson to reclaim them.

Still working on the trails

Trevor and I were over at Sals again today working on the new trail for a few hours. Lots of pick work with boulders and clay dirt digging and filling. Maybe we could call this trail the iceberg cause a little rock that you think has to come out that is 4" above the ground is like 12" deep. The clay stuff from the downed trees is great. Some of it is just like powder, and you can actually mix it with the black crap dirt to get a good trail surface.

In addition to the actual work done we flagged out the approach to the next turn. Now its all cool and swoopy.

Sals Thursday for trailwork

I talked to Trevor about doing some trailwork Thursday at Sals and he was into it. I might want to ride as well cause I haven't ridden in a while. Not sure about times cause I want to get out to Kutztown and hit Burkholders for veggies.

I was over there as well today for a little while and did some clay fill.

Build-Ride-Maintain

That's the IMBA slogan. If you read this you have probably ridden at Sals. Lots of you have helped with building new trails. Also, on occasion there is the need to go back and do maintenance on what we have already built.

Lately there has been some work on the yellow trail where it connects to the red. This was an old deer trail that wasn't fully bench cut. Now we are going back and fixing up some of the turns that were off camber and getting rocking. There's a few other spots at Sals that can use some remedial help.

Did some more trailwork today at Sals

Did more trailwork on the New Blue today at Sals. Trevor and I worked for a few hours doing clay filling on some of the stuff we did on 10-28.We used the Luby method(look for big uprooted tree to find clay) and it worked out great. The new trail we cut in is starting to shape up.We even saw someones tire track on there today! After a 15 minute negotiating session I was able to secure a wheelbarrow with an actual rubber air tire instead of the 1940's steel tire from you-know-who.

Trees down

There is a big tree down (really bad reroute in place already) on the yellow between Dodson and the first ATV trail and another big one (must dismount and climb over) on the lower red in that chute right before you cross the old switchback and go through the dip heading to the berm. They are both in need of cutting out and I'll gladly help anyone who has a chainsaw.
