Weissport (by Lehighton) to Jim Thorpe

I know there was some interest in putting together a trail care day for Weissport. This thread was started to see who would be willing to put in some time to head up there and cut back some of the growth.

Anyone? What days work best for you to come out?

Did the ride from Weissport to JT and back this AM and it was 11.6 miles and took us around an hour 35 minutes. That's with a flat, a few stops to rest/chat, and a couple of off-bike tip overs. There is one long stretch of a mile that needs to be ridden on the towpath because there is no other choice (and we put the hammer down on that alittle and turned about 17 MPH) and then just a few small on and offs to connect the various trails. The 1st trail (bridge trail) starts right behind the job johnny in the main parking lot.

FROM SOUTH

1.North on Turnpike(N.East Extension),Lehighton/Mahoning exit, 209 South toward Lehighton, Right at 1st light (Intersection of 248 & 209), down small short hill, Left at Stop Sign, Immediate Right before RR tracks/Small Food Shack, into dirt Weissport Canal Parking Lot.

2.248 West past Palmerton/Bowmantown/Parryville, to intersection of 248/209. Straight thru light down short hill to stop sign, Left at stop sign, immediate right into Canal lot (just before RR tracks & small food shack)
