Hello all, a small flowy reroute has been planned to bypass the 2 mud holes that form right before the large wooden bridge on the right hand side of the orange trail shortly after heading in from the trail head. The goal of this reroute is to make the trail more sustainable and fun while avoiding the 10-15 foot long mud hold that forms in times of heavy rain that gets wider after every rain.
Someone has been removing rocks from some of the harder sections of the Bug trail (marked with black markings) at S. Mtn Emmaus within the last week. I posted a photo on the VMB Facebook page where someone has tried to make the trail easier. Please stop. This trail was designed to be difficult. If there is a section that you cannot ride, work on your skills. Not the trail.
Hello all the new trail that bypasses all the muddy sections on the bottom right side of the orange loop is finished. It begins immediately after the large elevated boardwalk and ends before the climbging switchbacks on orange. It has 2 longer sections of "roman road" to address seasonal wet spots that are elevated rock bridges. Back in January we put the bridge in that spans rodale run and some boyscouts put a railing on one side of the bridge 2 weeks ago. The old section of orange will be closed and blocked off in the coming weeks due to its constant state of muddyness/erosion.
Hey if you rode today at SME and lost a pair of levers at SME let me know, or if you know who may have get them in touch with me. I have them and want to get them back to their owner. Thanks
Hello all I took a walk at SME with Carl from Wildlands Conservancy and he asked me to pass along to VMB a request for some trail work for rock armoring a portion of a reroute of the western or right hand side of the orange loop. This is the portion of trail immediately after the large boardwalk and along the side of the hill that gets very sloppy from springs coming off the mountain. The flagging and majority of small cutting has already been done for the reroute. A really nice sturdy bridge is going to be installed to span the small creek.
To my fellow mountain bikers,
As you all know we are blessed with an awesome array of trails in the LV. There is something for everyone. For those that like spinning you can hit up Jacobsburg, for those into a fast flow loop you have Trexler, those that want a bit more challenge Nox, those interested in learning some skills and having a fun night ride there is Jordan, for those interested in technical xc Sals and for those who want a bit of everything there is SMBeth.
Hello all I had posted this as part of the trail conditions report but it appears people may not have seen it..
I'm not asking because I need to agree or disagree with the person that cut the log overs at either end of the bug trail . I just need to confirm it was someone from vmb and not a rogue person or worse yet an ATV rider making better access for riding the singletrack on an ATV. Yes this ATV problem is still going on. Thanks to anyone that has any info.
I have never ridden South Mountain Emmaus. I did drive down Alpine to the kiosk and pick up a map.
I was wondering if the colors of the trails have significance relating to difficulty levels.
Also I would appreciate a good route to follow. I normally ride Salisbury and understand Emmaus may be a little tougher depending upon the route.
thanks..............also email address is defuzer1@ptd.net
What happens if there caught riding on trails in the conservancy? Is there a find to pay?
