Lehigh River Towpath

Tow Path..... Leigh and delawar

i rode from bethlehem to easton (and back) on the tow path the other day. It was my first time on it. The following weekend I rode on the delaware canal system from (approx) upper black eddy to new hope and back. It was awesome too.

Getting the itch to ride from bethlehem along the leigh high canal path to the end of the delaware canal path in bristol PA. Guessing maybe 75 miles give or take.

Directions/Map?

Hey all.  Just picked up our daughter's first Specialized bike from John and Lisa at Cutters, and want to take her to the Towpath to ride.  I've heard lots about it, but can't seem to find any info online.  Is it officially called the Palmer Township Rail Trail?  Is there someplace I can get directions and a map?

Thanks for any info!

Towpath is kind of smelly

Yo, I was reading that the canal wall had breached somehow upstream from B-town and a lot of water had run out of the canal. Well, I was riding on the towpath today and the water was mostly gone from it around bethlehem. This means there was a lot of creatures that have kicked the bucket and all of the now-exposed smelly mud stinking the place up. How refreshing!

Trails?

I did a short ride from the Lehigh Canal Park in A-town (under Hamilton Bridge) to Sand Island. As I got closer to Sand Island, I noticed a small bridge across the canal that connected the towpath to the other side of the canal (bout 1 mile before sand island). It lead over to a section of trails. They looped around a lot and had some crazy pit sections. Anyway, it was some wild stuff and I never seen it before - anyone know what these trails are? They are between the canal and the railroad if that helps.

Bethlehem Tow Path

I had questions regarding the tow path. Been years since I was down there. How does it how up after a rain?

And...

Where does it stop on the west side? Does it stop at Sand Island? Does it go into Allentown? If it goes into Allentown, where can I pick it up. Google wasn't helpful on this one.

Thanks!
