Has anyone ridden it recently? I rode it when they first put those bridges in and the big stones down, but haven't been back since cuz it kind of sucked. Have to take some noobs there and I was wondering if the rocks settled in or if anything is over top them or anything
Anyone ride this trail lately ? it s been 2 years since I have and I heard there was some improvements called the young american annex that avoid the muddy jeep road after the first rocky climb if you are starting down the mountain below both lots.
PM me or post a response with any info you have. thanks
PS I will probably ride it by parking in the 2nd lot on 93 and going straight into the fire road singletrack that follows the game lands boundary for a while .
For our Tuesday night ride I was inspred by Jay's ride which I missed last week. (maybe next week) We rode a variation of this ride starting from the train station. We debated canceling the ride since it was misty and about 50 degrees when we arrived at the train station, ultimately deciding to begin our climb up to flagstaff via paved road/switchback trail. After all, it was only misty and no rain was forcast. On our way up the mist turned to light drizzle. After the long ascent to flagstaff, we started accross the boney double and single track across Mauch Chunk ridge.
This used to be a really fun, steep downhill that started near Glen Onoko Falls and ended, well, at the bottom of Broad Mountain (you crossed a creek to get back to the rail-trail). I haven't ridden it in years, and the other day I did a search online while playing with GPS tracks, and basically found no references to the trail anywhere.
Has anyone been on this trail lately, what are the conditions -- does it even still exist?
I was looking to go to JT this weekend w/ my neighbor who's trying to get back into MTB and I need some trail help.
I always park @ the lake and ride/walk the lung buster to the top and then head east through the strip mine to the over look on pisgah mt. Bomb down the hill to town and then back up to the lake.
Could I park over @ summit hill and make that ride a little longer to Mt. Pisgah? I think I remember a group of you starting there last year. If so where should I park?
has anyone been in JT lately? Hoping to get a ride there this weekend, but not sure what the trails are like? Either the rim-ride or the standard...
CVD is having a phenomenal season. Check out this latest vid:

If you didn't know, his father created many of the original trails in Jim Thorpe that put it on the map BITD. Chris and his brother Nick are both amazing riders and people and EWR Factory Team allumni! True east coast originals.
Jim Thorpe native Chris Van Dine raced in Chile just before the earthquake hit. Here is a skype update from down there with him and Philippe Polk. Pretty interesting:

Apparently, there is good riding up there right now. It has much less clay than and a more rocky/sandy base than around here, so it drains well. My friend Dan Ellis has been up there a lot the last week (Nesquehoning, Am. Standard, etc.) and says it is the only place he's found to ride w/o getting all muddy and creating ruts. Thought you'd like to know.
