Growing Trails, Growing Community

The summer months have been full of exciting momentum for VMB, with new support for our trail network and plenty of opportunities for members and friends of the mountain biking community to come together.

A Big Win for Our Trails

We’re excited to announce that VMB was recently awarded a Trail Accelerator Grant from IMBA to support a feasibility study and concept plan for the proposed Allentown Reservoir Trails project. The planning effort will explore the creation of approximately 7–10 miles of natural-surface trails on city-owned land, establishing the first official mountain bike trail system within the city limits of Allentown

Riding Together All Summer

July and August brought plenty of opportunities to get out and ride together. From our regular group rides to special events, it has been great to see members and new faces gathering on the trails, sharing miles, and enjoying the community that makes VMB special.

Our Tuesday night rides continued to bring riders of all ages and abilities together at Jacobsburg State Park. Our Hawaiian shirt themed ride brought a record number of riders on the trail.

Our Members Picnic was held at South Mountain Disc Golf August 8th as a way for us to say thank you to our members for their continued support. Members gathered for good food and conversation and refreshments after a hot and humid morning on the trails.

Our Ride the Valley rides have also been a highlight of the summer. Ride the Valley at Nox was especially memorable, with 30+ riders joining us for a beautiful morning ride and sticking around afterward for hot dogs, refreshments, and time together off the trails.

Giving Back on Trail Cleanup Day

It wasn’t all about riding! Our Trail Cleanup Day held July 11th at Walking Purchase Park brought volunteers together to give some hands-on love to the trails we all enjoy. Volunteers spent the morning removing countless pounds of trash from the area. Trail stewardship is at the heart of what VMB does, and days like this are a great reminder that every set of hands makes a difference. We’re grateful to everyone who showed up and helped give back to our trails.
