as i'm getting ready to load the bike for an early morning jaunt to swatara state park with bw i squeeze the brake lever and the line pops! right out of the lever spraying hydro fluid. really wanted to ride so i load up the trusty gt and roll it old's kool

i've been wanting to get a xc setup for a few years. with wednesdays storm i figure the snow will be around for a while and pulled the trigger on a full setup right after my session at blue that morning. i had been looking on ebay and craigs list for a while for a cheap rossi evo trail type ski - touring/light backcountry dims with no luck until i found some cheap whitewood skis complete - dims are 68-60-65 with NNN binders/boots. they arrived friday, waxed 'em up and set out from home along the rr tracks after my staurday morning blue ski.

funny how the mind remembers what it wants to remember, like the locust lake trails draining well... what does drains exceptionally well and what doesn't...well...doesn't. saturday the hubcap trail was primo with maybe one little puddle but as you descended toward the bottom the atv trails were an impassable muddy mess. i had never been up on the south side of the drainage so bw followed me up the loose rocky hike-a-bike up the power line to a decent track on that side to avoid the muddy mess below.

long weekend at the beach makes for plenty of cruisin from the crest. day 1 starts off slow with the draw bridge open

back on track to the ferry landing to check out a dredge

Was planning on hitting blue for a few late afternoon turns but being pressed for time decided to hit slas instead. set out from dodson trail head about 4:10. snow was suprisingly grippy and steerable down the yellow to orange to lower red. nice tracks to follow.

turned around after watching the sun go down to follow my tracks back out the same way.
