Ride by yourself?

VMB Member

Answering the phone all day at work burns me out, so I get anti-social sometimes. Like yesterday. So, time to shut off the cell, spend a day in the woods & do a long ride by myself. Anyone ever get that way?

Long ride = American Standard? Yep.

Conditions were great! including Mud Road - very passable-. Unfortunately one of the lesser used singletracks was turned into an ATV highway.

Near the end I found that my heart still works fine and I wasn't so alone. Almost ran over a big ole timber rattler! (Dave, is this a timber?)

What a fantastic VMB weekend

Weekend started out aggravating on Friday night. The usual work crap and my cell phone ringing with that BS. But it rapidly got better once I descrambled my bike cables and got the Enduro trailworthy for Sals.

Guitarswheelies and I went up to Stowe Vt to visit my buddy Mike and ride. We rode the usual Town Loop and some extreme hiking before heading over to the Kingdom Trails (KTA) and camping/riding. The KTA was excellent. There is endless fast smooth singletrack and some advanced trails like "Tody's Tour" and "Sidewinder". The place was absolutely beautiful. It even smelled like pine trees the whole time. The downhill trails were closed due to mud. Mike knows the trailbuilders and wanted to respect them.

Seem to be back, and I'd have to give that credit to the Ride Scheduler and, of course, Bob.

Anyway, 21 people showed up for the ride. Wow. Rode the Standard backwards from the usual way, which I liked better.

Hats off to TonyD138 for hanging in there. He kept plugging away and Rudy showed him some pointers. Hopefully, he rides some more with us at Sals.

Some cold beers and good food after and I am whooped.

Another riding weekend

The Fiancee (yeah I said it ok) and her daughter wanted to do a little ride this morning since the sun was out and the birds were chirping. Off to the towpath we go. I mention how nice it would be to eat lunch in New Jersey, Ashley say "cool, I'm hungry" 14 miles to NJ and we eat lunch on the Delaware.
But what goes down must go up. The ride home was a lot less enthuasiastic, except for the couple we saw fornicating in the woods. But we made it back for a 5.5 hour excursion. Both girls were like "wow that wiped me out".
Tomorrow, an advanced kick your %ss rude with my homies!
