Not intentionally being a stranger
Hey gang. Just thought I'd post that my fatherly duties with my 7 year old have been rather intense the last few weekends and will remain that way for most of September.
Since I only get to see her weekends I usually opt to take her more than I'm legally permitted if the X offers it.
End of September however I'll have some free time on the weekend to finally join a ride or event.
Going to bring her with me to Cutters Grand Opening tomorrow though...she might enjoy that.

New giant slide competes with mtn bike trails at blue mountain
I didn't really want to tell anyone but here is my new giant slide i've been working on at blue. No lift pass needed
Should have left my credit card at home...
I stopped in at a local bike shop close to where I work in NJ to simply get a new tube for my rear tire; Garden State Bicycles. Walked out a lot poorer after chatting for about 30 minutes with one of the tech's.
I probably should make sure I'm stocked up on band aids and antibiotic ointment also before I put these on my Trek. These will be my 1st set of clip-in pedals. Read more »
Ride it like you stole it!
Been biking for years and recently started doing a lot of trail biking...and love it. Looking forward to hitting a few of the trails you folks work hard to create...and help out too.
My ride...

The rest of the pics...after a rather messy ride at Jacobsburg earlier this month.

PS: I'm an amateur photographer. Might be fun to shoot some great pics of folks riding for the site. Or simply chronicle events if schedules permit.
Ride by yourself?
Answering the phone all day at work burns me out, so I get anti-social sometimes. Like yesterday. So, time to shut off the cell, spend a day in the woods & do a long ride by myself. Anyone ever get that way?
Long ride = American Standard? Yep.
Conditions were great! including Mud Road - very passable-. Unfortunately one of the lesser used singletracks was turned into an ATV highway.
Near the end I found that my heart still works fine and I wasn't so alone. Almost ran over a big ole timber rattler! (Dave, is this a timber?) Read more »
Garbage bags never work!
i'll keep it short b/c i'm tired:
got a call from a PGC land manager today telling me of a story where he saw two mtn bikers up at camelback riding into a trail with tools. He decided to wait and have a chat with them when they came out.
they came out, minus the tools and he asked "how's it going guys, what you up to" "just riding" said the riders(name left out for no reason but to create suspense).
"weren't you guys doing trailwork?" akward pause.........
they fessed up and said they keep the tools in a garbage bag in the woods.
The land manager let it go. Read more »
Colorado Surprise
It wasn't so shocking that John was leaving multiple, berating voicemails to get me out to his place in Colorado to do some riding and relaxing. After all, he's been harassing me about everything since the fourth grade, when my first not-so-friendly encounter with him on a field trip resulted in my sweet 80's comb in the back pocket being thrown deep into the woods. And Doug in San Francisco calling me to meet him at John's is an annual occurrence, so no surprise there. Read more »

. All the trails wew awesome once they dried out alittle. Had 2 falls but other than that a pretty good day. Looking forward to the next time, hopefully psych myself up to try the crazy step down at the jump section of the downhill.
Bicycle Times
I may be behind on this but I came across a new magazine from Dirt Rag.
It's called Bicycle Times and seems to be geared toward everyday riders and cycling advocacy.
